Leena Barqawi (b. 2004, San Francisco, California) is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on the mechanics of play and absurdism. She finds laughter to be a crucial response to remain conent amdist the echoes of the mundane. By situating ordinary experiences in ways that amplify the strange structures governing daily life, she invites the viewer to recognize that the world is, at it’s core, unserious and that laughter is a fundemantal way to release the tension of living within it.
Leena is based between Paris and San Francisco. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor or Fine Arts in Art, Media and Technology from Parsons Paris—The Newschool and is projected to graduate in May 2026.
